Plain-language definitions of the words you meet in the dashboard, the API and cw.

Terms, A to Z

TermWhat it means
Access levelWhat a person may do in a workspace: Viewer, Developer, Developer Plus, Maintainer or Admin. The level an action needs depends on the environment: Developer in development, Developer Plus in staging, Maintainer in production, and Admin to delete in production. See Permissions & access.
Add-onSomething you buy on top of a plan for the whole workspace: Additional Seat or White Label. See Billing & pricing.
AlertA notice that something needs attention, such as a backup that didn't run, a certificate about to expire or a server low on disk. Alerts arrive by the bell and by email. See Alerts & notifications.
API tokenA key you create in My Settings → API Tokens so the API, cw or an AI assistant can act as you. It is limited to the workspaces and functions you pick, and it expires. See API, CLI & AI assistants.
AppOne Odoo instance in an environment: an Odoo version, Community or Enterprise, and the Git branches it runs.
Apply ConfigAn app action that applies changed container settings, environment variables and routing, then restarts the app. A change to the Odoo config patch needs a new deployment instead.
BackupA copy of an app's database, with its filestore (Zip) or without it (Dump). Apps with Auto Backup on (it is on by default in production) are backed up every night. See Backups & restore.
BuildThe app button that opens one dialog with three choices: Deploy, Update and, in staging and development, Build, which makes the app's database a neutralized copy of a production or staging app's backup.
Client namespaceA workspace an agency adds under its own for a client. Adding one needs the Admin level, the White Label add-on and at least one approved project on a paid plan.
CoderA VS Code editor that runs in your browser, installed on one of your servers. The environment's Coder button opens it, or offers to install it.
cwCloudWady's command-line tool. It reads your apps, runs and logs from a terminal or a script and, when your token allows, makes changes. See API, CLI & AI assistants.
Custom URLAn address on your own domain added to an app on its URLs tab. Custom URLs need the White Label add-on.
DeployProvision or redeploy an app's container and code: the first start of a new app, or a full rebuild.
EnvironmentA stage of a project: Production, Staging or Development. Each one runs its own apps on a server.
InstallerA service installed on one of your servers next to your apps, such as the router that serves your apps' addresses, monitoring agents, Coder or pgAdmin. See Installers.
LoggerAn app's log screen. It shows the app's Odoo log and the logs of its setup, restores and backups, live or paused, and lets you download them.
Maintenance modeWhile it is on, visitors to the app's address see a maintenance page instead of Odoo. Turn it on and off with Enable Maintenance and Disable Maintenance in the app's actions.
Maintenance windowA period you set on the Alerts → Maintenance tab during which your workspace's alerts are paused, for planned work.
MCPThe Model Context Protocol, through which an AI assistant such as Claude or Codex talks to CloudWady with your API token. It asks you before every change.
Namespace / workspaceYour organization's own space on the platform: its projects, servers, team, plan and billing. The switcher at the top of the dashboard moves between the workspaces you belong to.
Off-site copyA backup's copy on a storage outside the app's server. A backup can also be kept off-site only, with nothing left on the server.
OperationsThe menu that lists runs, with Workflows, Runners and Queues tabs. There is one for the whole workspace in the sidebar and one in each app.
PlanWhat a project is subscribed to: Free, Essential, Pro or Premium. The plan decides which features the project has and how many seats it brings.
ProjectThe container for one Odoo deployment: its environments, its plan, its Git repository and its domain provider.
Public checkThe platform regularly opens each app address from outside to see that it answers as the app. The URLs list shows Answering, Not answering or Not checked.
QueueRuns of one record waiting their turn, run one after the other.
Quick updateAn Update option: pull the code and restart with the existing image, without rebuilding it. Updating the database modules is a separate choice.
Restore pointA point recorded before every change made to an app. From the app's Restore points menu you can roll back the code, the data or both. Points are kept for 90 days. See Deployments & rollback.
RetryingA run that failed and is being retried automatically. You don't need to press Retry while it shows.
Run (workflow)One operation on one record, such as a deploy, an update, a backup or a restore, made of steps. A failed step says why it failed.
RunnerOne step of a run as it executes on a server, with its own output.
Safe updateA module update that runs on a copy of the database and is switched in only when it worked, so a failed update leaves the app as it was. The environment's Update copy policy decides when updates run this way; production always tries a copy first.
SandboxA shared demo workspace where every new account starts. It is read-only for most actions: create your own workspace to deploy your projects.
SeatOne member of a workspace. A workspace's seats are those of the largest plan among its projects (plans don't add up) plus any Additional Seat add-ons.
StorageWhere backups are copied off the server: S3 Object Storage, SFTP / Storage Box or a Cloud Volume.
UpdatePull the latest code of an app's branches and update its installed modules.
Update ModulesAn app action that updates the Odoo modules you name (-u) on the database, without new code.
White LabelAn add-on for the whole workspace: your own branding instead of CloudWady's, custom URLs and domains, your own alert sender, and client namespaces.
